24/7 Virtual Urgent Care Clinic: Video Chat with a Provider
When it comes to describing symptoms, sometimes it’s easier to talk than type or fill out questions. With Ballad Health, you can schedule a same-day virtual doctor appointment with a local provider.
We charge a $49 self-pay flat fee, or we can bill your insurance and you’ll pay the co-pay towards your deductible.
We will provide a virtual doctor's note for sick leave when needed for school or work.
Don’t worry – if you cannot be treated online, we'll refund your money.

How it works – 24/7 virtual doctor's appointment

Schedule your appointment after answering some basic questions about your general symptoms. Appointments are available 24/7, and you can typically find a time same-day.
Tell us who you are by creating an account.
Video chat with a Ballad Health provider to get diagnosed and lay out your treatment plan. Let your provider know if you need a doctor’s note.
Prescriptions that fall under your treatment plan will be issued to your preferred pharmacy by your Ballad Health provider.
When to seek in-person care
You may need to visit a local urgent care when testing or diagnostics is necessary to confirm your diagnosis. For example, if you have strep throat, you’ll need to have testing done in-person.
If your condition isn't listed on this page, please visit an urgent care location near you.

Frequently asked questions
For this type of online visit, you’ll need to be on a desktop or laptop with a webcam and working internet connection, or a mobile device or tablet with a selfie camera. If you don’t have access to either of these options or would rather just answer some questions in your own time, try our no video visit instead.
Ballad Health has a fully dedicated telehealth staff consisting of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who are prepared to read your responses and reply with a treatment plan. Our telehealth team is supervised by an MD. During your virtual visit, you will be connected with a local virtual doctor or provider who will chat through your symptoms and recommend a treatment that will work best for you.
Visits are a $49 self-pay flat fee. You can pay out of pocket or you can bill insurance and pay the co-pay towards your deductible. If your condition can't be treated online, you won't have to pay anything.
You can pay with a credit card or a health savings account (HSA) card.
You are responsible for the cost of any prescriptions, over-the-counter treatments, or follow-up visits you may need related to medications.
The name Virtual Urgent Care Clinic will not appear on your bill. The billing department noted on your bill will be the Ballad Health Urgent Care at Colonial Heights.
We do our best to treat you online, but not every condition can be treated through this telehealth option. If your health concern cannot be addressed this way, you may be directed to an in-person clinic for care. If this is the case, you will not be charged for the visit.
Labs and imaging studies cannot be ordered through this telehealth service.
If your condition cannot be diagnosed online, we’ll refund the money from your visit. Not all conditions can be treated with a prescription. For example, if you’re diagnosed with a cold, you will still be billed even though there is not a medication that can be prescribed.
Your health information is completely private through our telehealth service. All the information you provide is encrypted and protected. Our Terms of Service gives more detail on how we protect the personal information provided during telehealth visits.
Let your provider know during your video chat that you’ll need a doctor’s note, and they will be happy to give you one, if applicable.
