Be mine? Marsh Regional Blood Center celebrates 75th anniversary with Diamond Jubilee Blood Drive and giveaway
Marsh Regional Blood Center is feeling the love and will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with a special blood drive and giveaway.
Those who donate to the Marsh Regional Diamond Jubilee Blood Drive will be entered to win a special prize—and one lucky winner will get to choose between 1 carat diamond earrings or a trip for two to an Atlanta Braves baseball game, including an overnight stay. Donation is not necessary to win the grand prize, and entry forms will be available to fill out the event to enter for the grand prize.
“It’s a special anniversary for Marsh Regional, we’re honored that we’ve been serving our communities for 75 years,” said Marsh Regional Director Steffanie Sukel. “We wanted to give our community members the chance to spread the love with a special drive. When you donate blood, you could be saving up to three lives—maybe even the life of someone you know. All it costs you is a little time.”
The Diamond Jubilee Blood Drive will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Donors should come to the South Entrance building for the drive.
The winner of the giveaway will be announced live on Marsh Regional’s Facebook page at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 14.
All donors who give blood at the Diamond Jubilee Blood Drive will receive a special edition Marsh Regional long-sleeve t-shirt, a pair of cubic zirconia earrings and a special Valentine’s Day snack. All donors must wear a mask at all times while in donation centers and on mobile units. Marsh Regional will have masks on hand for donors who do not bring one.
One blood donation can save up to three lives, and blood donations collected by Marsh Regional stay in the Appalachian Highlands. Marsh Regional supplies 25 medical facilities, all regional cancer centers and all local rescue aircraft bases in the Appalachian Highlands.
To give blood, donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Those with a cold, sore throat, fever, flu or fever blisters or who are taking antibiotics are not eligible to donate. Donors should eat a balanced meal before giving blood.
People with a recent COVID-19 infection should wait at least 10 days after symptoms subside, or 10 days from a positive test result for those without symptoms, before giving blood.
