Dr. Jonathan Moorman joins Ballad Health Emergency Operations Center
Ballad Health continues to partner with regionally critical institutions in the response to the potential spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Today, Ballad Health and East Tennessee State University announced Dr. Jonathan Moorman, division chief for ETSU’s Infectious, Inflammatory and Immunologic Disease and vice chair of research and scholarship at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, is joining the Ballad Health Corporate Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) as a liaison with ETSU and the medical community.
“East Tennessee State University and the James H. Quillen College of Medicine are instrumental regional partners in this response,” said Ballad Health Chairman and CEO Alan Levine. “We are grateful Dr. Moorman is willing to lend his expertise to ensure Ballad Health is effectively coordinating with our strategic partners as we mount a concerted, regional response to COVID-19.”
Published in more than 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Moorman’s expertise in infectious disease adds significant value to the efforts of Ballad Health and ETSU. As a liaison, he will help coordinate activity and information flow between the healthcare functions of ETSU and Ballad Health, and he will provide professional input with respect to the response.
Dr. Moorman joins Dr. David Reagan, who has been advising the clinical and operational leadership of the Ballad Health CEOC. Dr. Reagan formerly served as chief medical officer of the Tennessee Department of Health and as an associate dean and professor of medicine for the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at ETSU.
“ETSU is pleased to support the efforts of our partners at Ballad Health as we all work to ensure a responsive effort to the potential spread of the coronavirus,” said Dr. Bill Block, dean of the James H. Quillen College of Medicine. “Our faculty and infrastructure are available to help; however, the Ballad Health Emergency Operations Center determines what will be most beneficial in terms of the healthcare response. This is, of course, in addition to the steps taken by ETSU with respect to the management of issues of significance to ETSU as an academic institution.”
Ballad Health and ETSU will ensure uniformity of communications related to the healthcare response, and all communications that are necessary will come officially through the Ballad Health CEOC.
