Greeneville Community Hospital Resuming Services on Oct. 5

Services at Greeneville Community Hospital – with the exception of surgery – will resume on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

Ballad Health evacuated the facility on Saturday, Sept. 28, due to water supply issues related to the effects of Hurricane Helene. The hospital remained open for emergency medical and emergent obstetric services, but all other inpatient, outpatient and surgical services had been suspended.

Surgeries remain suspended until further notice; however, the following services will be available:

  • ER services: These remain ongoing, as they have since Sept. 28.
  • Inpatient services: Services will reopen under normal operations on Saturday, Oct. 5.
  • Surgical services: At this time surgeries will remain suspended until further notice.
  • Obstetrical services: Emergency obstetric (OB) services are still being provided for patients in active labor or who have an emergent situation.
  • Outpatient services, including lab, sleep and radiology services: These will resume as of Monday, Oct. 7.
  • Greeneville Community Hospital entrances: As of Saturday, Oct. 5, the main entrance and ER entrance will both be open.

Ballad Health thanks all its team members and clinicians for working to safely transfer and assist with patients’ care during the transfers and hospital suspension, as well as the city of Greeneville for working to restore services.

All Ballad Health hospitals, except Unicoi County Hospital, are now open and receiving patients.
