Message from Ballad Health Foundation President about COVID-19

Dear friends:

Thank you for your generosity, partnership and advocacy with Ballad Health Foundation as we seek to improve health outcomes in the Appalachian Highlands. Through your support, we have stood by some of our most vulnerable neighbors when they’ve needed us the most.

Ballad Health remains committed to our mission, and our infectious disease team is working in close contact with local and state health departments, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to keep our neighbors safe. As you seek out accurate information on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), I encourage you to stay updated and informed by visiting Ballad Health’s COVID-19 response page.

Because social distancing has demonstrated efficacy in “flattening the curve” of infection rates, Ballad Health Foundation’s team members and Board of Trustees have made several amendments to our spring events calendar:

• Dickenson Community Hospital Radio Auction, scheduled for April 4–5 (benefiting Dickenson County Hospital Foundation), will be rescheduled to a later date.
• Wine, Women & Shoes, scheduled for April 18 (providing breast cancer screening programs), will be rescheduled at a later date.
• Broadway Comes to Greeneville, scheduled for April 26 (benefiting Niswonger Children’s Hospital), will be rescheduled at a later date.
• Boots & Bow Ties, scheduled for May 2 (benefiting Appalachian Highlands Dental Center), will be rescheduled in spring 2021.

If you wish to donate your ticket proceeds to the events’ intended causes, your gift will be greatly appreciated. You can also contact our foundation office for a refund – we’ll be happy to work with you on whichever option you choose. Moreover, we anticipate greatly increased demands for the foundation’s patient assistance funds following this challenging time. If you would like to help us meet these needs, please consider making a gift today.
