High Point Elementary School Student wins Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 2019 Christmas card design contest
High Point Elementary School student, Abbi Taylor, wins Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 2019 Christmas card design contest, with over 90 children entering the competition.
“When I was thinking about what to draw for the Christmas card, I thought about when I was in the hospital myself,” said Abbi. “I thought about how this may bring joy to other children who are in the hospital.”
The contest was open to children and grandchildren of Johnston Memorial Hospital team members as well as any child enrolled in the Washington County School System through grade five. The top 10 designs are chosen by the Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation Board then displayed in the lobby of Johnston Memorial for team members to cast their vote for the winning design.
“Hosting this design competition allows students in our area to not only use their creativity, but to also be exposed to their local hospital, becoming more aware of how we are helping to take care of our community each day,” said Mary Dudley, Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation chairperson. “It is also just a fun way to engage with the youth in our area, allowing them to be involved and contribute to the work of our foundation.”
Abbi received a $100 Target gift card and her design will be featured on the front of the Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 2019 Christmas card. The original artwork will be framed and auctioned at the 2020 Boots and Bow Ties event in May, benefiting the Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation.
