DQ® Blizzard® treat sales help Niswonger Children’s Hospital

Temperatures in our region are soaring – but there’s a blizzard in the forecast for Thursday, Aug. 2.

On that day, several Dairy Queen® restaurants in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia will come together for Miracle Treat Day, benefitting Niswonger Children’s Hospital.

During Miracle Treat Day, $1 or more from every Blizzard treat sold at participating locations will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada.

Niswonger Children’s is the regional affiliate of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which makes it the recipient of all local fundraising, retail partnerships and sponsorship support. This means all money raised at regional Dairy Queen stores on Miracle Treat Day will benefit children in this area through the children’s hospital’s inpatient hospital care, neonatal intensive care and outpatient facilities, as well as its services, projects and initiatives that improve children’s health.

“We’re so grateful for the support we receive from members of our community and Children’s Miracle Network corporate sponsors, like Dairy Queen,” said Clay Rolston, executive director of Ballad Health Foundation. “Children come to us from across the region, including Southeastern Kentucky and Western North Carolina, and the support we receive makes it possible for us to deliver the best possible care.”

Ballad Health has committed to bolstering the infant and children’s services available in this region, including the creation of a pediatric trauma center, improved emergency care, new locations for clinics and telemedicine hubs and more specialized pediatric experts, all of which will be further enhanced by the Children’s Miracle Network partnership.

Last year’s Miracle Treat Day raised more than $15,000 in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Since 1984, Dairy Queen has raised more than $130 million nationwide for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon campaign and other local initiatives.

To help celebrate Miracle Treat Day, fans are encouraged to use #MiracleTreatDay on social media and invite others to join them in visiting a participating Dairy Queen location Thursday, Aug. 2 and help kids get back to being kids.
