Niswonger Children’s Hospital to host annual Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig
It’s almost time for the annual Niswonger Children’s Hospital’s Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig!
The family-friendly races will be open to adults and children of all ages, fitness levels and physical abilities so everyone can celebrate fitness, competition and fun.
This is the fifth year for Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig, which will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Founders Park in Johnson City. The event features a 5K race, a one-mile fun run/walk and a 200-meter modified race that accommodates children who might otherwise not participate in traditional races.
“The Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig is my absolute favorite event of the year,” said Lisa Carter, chief executive officer of Niswonger Children’s Hospital and Ballad Health’s vice president of pediatric services. “Not only does this race promote wellness and exercise, but it fosters a sense of inclusion. It’s amazing to see these kids get out there, give it their all and witness what they can overcome. The Scarecrow Skedaddle is about celebrating them!”
All participants will get a T-shirt and runner’s bib, and all finishers will receive a finisher’s medal as they cross the finish line. Sign-ups are welcome up to the day of the event.
Following the races, Niswonger Children’s Hospital will host a shindig at the park’s amphitheater. The after-party will include agility challenges, dancing and educational and health-related booths for children and their families to explore.
Scarecrow Skedaddle & Shindig registration costs $10 per person. To learn more or register for the event, please visit the Goose Chase website here.
