Boots & Bow Ties set for May 19; event benefits Washington County infant health
ABINGDON, Va. – Get ready to put on your Sunday best and kick up your heels for a good cause – the fifth annual Boots & Bow Ties event is coming up Saturday, May 19.
Hosted by Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation and presented by First Bank & Trust Company, this year’s Boots & Bow Ties raises funds to increase technology, equipment and programs that support the health of infants in Washington County, Virginia.
Boots & Bow Ties will be held at Woodbrook Farms in Abingdon, Virginia. The evening begins at 6 p.m. and features a dinner catered by Pratt’s Real Pit Bar-B-Que and live music from Carson Peters & Iron Mountain, a regional bluegrass band.
During the live and silent auctions, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on a range of items that include a vacation, jewelry, sports memorabilia and more. There will also be a unique opportunity to win a Christmas card designed by a Washington County elementary school student. More than 100 children submitted drawings and artwork in the contest hosted by Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation. The winning drawing was used on the foundation’s Christmas card and the original winning creation will be offered as an auction item.
Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite bow ties and boots. Wm. King Clothiers offered guests an opportunity to purchase an event-exclusive bow tie, designed in the colors of Ballad Health’s logo. The limited-edition bow ties sold out quickly, but many event guests will don them.
Tickets are $75 per person and include dinner, desserts and access to the event. They can be purchased online at the Boots & Bow Ties event page.
Since its inception less than 10 years ago, Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $600,000 from individual donors and events such as Boots & Bow Ties. These funds have been used for needed equipment and technologies, such as 3-D mammography and navigational bronchoscopy.
